Content is King

More and more, search engines like Google are ranking websites with more content higher in the listings. That’s why a blog is a great way to add relevant content to your website and increase your search engine ranking. In addition, if you let your site go stale and don’t refresh your content on a regular basis, Google and other search engines begin dropping you in the rankings. That will make it harder for your clients to find you.

Many business owners stress over writing blogs, but creating blog content is actually quite simple. Every business owners provides tips and advice to clients every day. Writing about just one of those tips each week is an easy way to establish that you are an expert in your field and to share important information with your clients.

Then there are trends in your industry that you’ll want to share with guests to your website. For example, someone in construction and remodeling might want to share ideas and tips in the following categories.

  • Design Trends – glass tile, floating sinks, rain showerheads, jet and body spray showers, in floor radiant heating, color trends for wood, in colors for 2012, 2013, etc. stainless steel is in
  • Green Design – bamboo, cork, marmoleum, recycled glass, recycled flooring materials, non-toxic or low VOC paints, tankless water heaters, low flow toilets and showerheads
  • Kitchen Remodel Tips – measure new appliance first before ordering cabinets, farmhouse sinks, sink, pot fillers, solid surface sinks, soapstone for sinks, entertainment sink for ice and drinks
  • Bathroom Remodel Tips – in floor heating, heated towel racks, rain showers, jet and body sprays, sink choices, furniture vanity vs. built ins, countertop choices, ceiling (waterfall) fill for tub

Finally, its always nice to provide visitors to your site with links to relevant news or books in your industry. Write a brief introduction and your thoughts on the newspaper or magazine article or book and include a link where your visitor can read more.

It only takes a couple minutes each week to create relevant copy for your website and help increase the chances that new customers will find you.
