The Psychology of Color

From the dawn of time, the human race has been programmed to respond to color. As humans, our very survival is hung on the identification of color. We stop our cars for red lights and go on green, we look at the color of certain plants and animals to determine whether or not they are safe for us to eat or touch. The bottom line is that color is a very important part of our daily lives.

In fact, colors act upon the body as well as the mind. Red has been shown to stimulate the senses and raise the blood pressure, while blue has the opposite effect and calms the mind.

As a business owner, you must take the psychology of color into account when creating marketing materials. It is important for you to use color appropriately and understand the meaning behind the colors you choose to reach out and touch the clients you are hoping to attract. Keep in mind that colors mean different things in different cultures, so if you are marketing products overseas, do your homework!
